Kansas City Gift Baskets: Give the Best of Kansas City

By: Nelson Mann

A Kansas City gift basket would not be complete without Sylva’s chips and three bean salsa.  Mano’s Food & Wine Gifts has included the Sylva’s products in its gourmet gift baskets for years and as the popularity of Sylva’s has continued to grow, so has that of Mano’s.  Long operating as the holiday brand of Nutcracker Sweets, Mano’s became the operative name for the year-round gourmet gift basket company that has a twenty-year history in the Heartland.   As a friend and customer of Mano’s, I look forward to opening a bag of the crispy Sylva’s chips and then dipping into the scrumptious salsa that is not too mild and not too spicy . . . just perfect.  This is especially important when I send Kansas City gift baskets to customers or friends because I want to make sure they will enjoy all of the contents.  Well, Mano’s jam packs its gourmet gift baskets, unlike some of its competitors, and including Sylva’s products in its offerings makes them ideal for both the holidays and the summer season picnics.

Breakfast Gift Baskets: Manos and Boba Tea and Bakery

Good news!  Breakfast gift baskets from Mano’s Food & Wine Gifts has teamed up with Boba Tea and Bakery, a local Kansas City company, to provide the freshest and most yummy baked goods available.  The recipes used by Boba Tea originated with their grandma Opal Rhodes in 1916 and have been passed down through the generations.  When Mano’s was looking for the finest baked goods to add to our breakfast gifts baskets for its customers’ office events or simply to surprise and bring a smile to a friend, it discovered Boba Tea Bakery in Olathe, Kansas.  You have to go there to experience the real “boba tea,” that is pretty hard to find in coffee houses.  But if you just want to experience the delight of blueberry, raspberry almond, or banana nut cream muffins, an order from Mano’s would be just perfect.  Boba Tea also offers brownies, scones and other baked items, so be sure to let Mano’s know what you would like.  And don’t forget, if you have a wedding coming up, go directly to Boba Tea for the most incredible custom cakes imaginable.  Mano’s and Boba Tea . . . gourmet gift baskets by design!

If you have a special client and you want to put yourself aside from the competition, try one of our breakfast gift baskets:

Nut Gift Baskets: What Would Jesus Eat?

by: Nelson Mann

I just recently learned about the “Jesus Diet,” which was featured in Colbert’s book “What would Jesus Eat?”  The premise of the book was during that era travelers throughout the Mediterranean Sea relied in their diet very heavily on the wide variety of nuts that were naturally grown throughout the area.  If only they had the opportunity to enjoy a gourmet gift basket from Mano’s Food & Wine Gifts that features treats ranging from raw almonds and walnuts to chocolate covered nuts of all sorts.  A gourmet gift basket for travelers in those ancient times would have been unheard of.   But in today’s world, we can feast upon one of our gourmet gift baskets .We have come a long way in the delivery of products to the consumer and understanding their benefits.  It is now well-known that nuts help to lower bad cholesterol, are high in protein, and benefit our hearts.  So really, by focusing on nuts in your gourmet gift baskets, Mano’s has really put the “heart” into gift giving.

Dog Gift Baskets: Doggie Dream Box

By: Nelson Mann

Sharon and I visited the Fancy Food Show in San Diego last year, where products from around the world for gourmet food gift baskets were displayed.  We both noticed that there were long lines in front of all of the booths that featured animal health products.  We were smart enough to return to Kansas City and develop a gourmet gift basket for one of our favorite companion animals . . . our dogs.  Mano’s Food & Wine Gifts inclusion of a “Doggie Dream Box” in your last catalog (with a picture of your merle Australian puppy name “Sky”) was terrific.

All of the large pet stores seem to have the same old products and nothing really cute to give the dog lover.  Keep it up!  I would love a Dog Gift Baskets for my own canine companion; especially one like Mano’s that includes doggie bones and biscuits, Dingo Goof Balls and a talking cow toy (a Kansas City natural).

Gourmet Gift Baskets: The Health Side of Gift Giving

We have wonderful gourmet gift basket at Mano’s Food & Wine Gifts.  Our nut gift baskets are one of our specialties. In a recent article written by Louanne Cox, she recommends eating a handful of nuts each day.  Our gourmet gift baskets are loaded with all kinds of nuts, some plain and others covered with chocolate. Louanne concludes from a recently published “Nurses Health Study” that nuts have “good fats” that help protect the heart.  Consuming nuts and seeds on a regular basis maintains a stable sugar level in your body which makes you feel fuller for longer. Our gourmet gift baskets are loaded with almonds, which actually help lower cholesterol because70% of the fat in almonds is mono-unsaturated (healthy) fat. The almonds in Mano’s gourmet gift baskets are really the seeds of the fruit of the almond tree and are high in magnesium, potassium, manganese, potassium, copper, Vitamin E, selenium and calcium.

This is one of our best selling gourmet nut gift baskets:

Corporate Gift Baskets: Sending Chocolate Helps!

This is the first in a series of Mano’s blogs on how to use food and wine gifts to enhance your sales efforts.  In today’s economy, we need all of the tools available to make a statement for our service or product and to connect to our clients.

We recently came across this article in “Oprah” magazine and found it very applicable to the experiences of many of our own customers!  It was written by Linda Thaler and appeared in the September  2006 issue.

Sweeten The Deal

Chocolate does more than cure a broken heart.  It contains amamdamide, a “feel Good” chemical that may be responsible for chocolate highs – making people more receptive to your ideas.  One of our employees first figured this out after he noticed I enjoyed his scripts more when I was munching on M&M’s.  Several pounds later I started using this delicious ploy with clients, lavishing them with sweets right before we presented our work.  Suddenly, they were much more interested in buying our out-of-the-box thinking.  We now serve brownies, lemonade and Godiva truffles (for the really difficult accounts). Next time you want to sell anybody on anything don’t think of buttering them up – think of sugaring them up.”

Mano’s has healthy gifts like our home-made “Energy Mix” with raw almonds, walnuts, and cranberries and scrumpcious chocolates such our customers’ favorite “creamy pecans” that come in our “Best-Seller Box.”  We had never really thought about “amamdamide” before, but, hey, if that makes your prospect more receptive to your proposal, so much the better!!!
