Corporate Gift Baskets: Sending Chocolate Helps!

This is the first in a series of Mano’s blogs on how to use food and wine gifts to enhance your sales efforts.  In today’s economy, we need all of the tools available to make a statement for our service or product and to connect to our clients.

We recently came across this article in “Oprah” magazine and found it very applicable to the experiences of many of our own customers!  It was written by Linda Thaler and appeared in the September  2006 issue.

Sweeten The Deal

Chocolate does more than cure a broken heart.  It contains amamdamide, a “feel Good” chemical that may be responsible for chocolate highs – making people more receptive to your ideas.  One of our employees first figured this out after he noticed I enjoyed his scripts more when I was munching on M&M’s.  Several pounds later I started using this delicious ploy with clients, lavishing them with sweets right before we presented our work.  Suddenly, they were much more interested in buying our out-of-the-box thinking.  We now serve brownies, lemonade and Godiva truffles (for the really difficult accounts). Next time you want to sell anybody on anything don’t think of buttering them up – think of sugaring them up.”

Mano’s has healthy gifts like our home-made “Energy Mix” with raw almonds, walnuts, and cranberries and scrumpcious chocolates such our customers’ favorite “creamy pecans” that come in our “Best-Seller Box.”  We had never really thought about “amamdamide” before, but, hey, if that makes your prospect more receptive to your proposal, so much the better!!!
